Teacher’s Day is not just a date on the calendar; it is a time to remember those people who, without making noise, change our lives. Each teacher leaves an eternal mark on their students: in a word of encouragement when it was most needed, in an explanation that ignited curiosity, or in a lesson that went beyond academic learning. Sometimes we do not notice it at the moment, but over time we understand that many of the things we are today began in a classroom, thanks to someone who believed in us even when we did not. Being a teacher is not just about teaching subjects; it is about inspiring, accompanying, and planting ideas that can last a lifetime.
Being a teacher is a profession that requires commitment, constant preparation, and great responsibility, since part of the academic and personal development of future generations is in their hands. A teacher does not simply enter the classroom to explain topics; behind each class there is a planning process in which they organize activities, conduct research, prepare materials, and look for strategies so that their students can better understand the content in a memorable way. In addition, they must adapt to different learning styles, solve problems within the classroom, and find creative ways to motivate their students.
Being a teacher also implies continuously updating one’s knowledge, studying new methodologies, and overcoming challenges such as stress, lack of time, or the difficulties some students may face. Despite these challenges, teachers continue to strive because they understand the importance of their work and the impact they have on the lives of young people and on the future of our world. Every May 15th, we celebrate the importance of their profession. Teacher’s Day was instituted in 1917 by President Venustiano Carranza and has been celebrated since 1918.
For Paulo Domínguez, a second-year middle school student, one of the things he appreciates most about teachers is their passion for teaching, dedication, commitment, and sense of humor. Paulo comments that he is grateful to Professor Manuel for his commitment and dedication during volleyball tournaments and for the support he provides. What he appreciates about Teacher Mike is his sense of humor, his understanding of problems, and the way he knows how to support others. He is grateful to Miss Karla for the commitment she shows toward her students and for always being there to laugh, understand, and express what is necessary. He appreciates that Teacher Lalo is fun and gives creative freedom to students. From Miss Janet, he appreciates her strong teaching skills, commitment as a teacher, and the attention she gives to every student. He is grateful that Professor Olguín brings great enthusiasm to his explanations, is cheerful, and has extensive knowledge of History. Finally, he appreciates Professor Fernando’s sense of humor and enjoys the way he talks about mathematics.
In conclusion, Teacher’s Day is an opportunity to recognize the effort, dedication, and patience of those who devote their lives to teaching and guiding new generations. Teachers not only share knowledge but also inspire dreams, encourage talents, and leave lessons that remain forever in the lives of their students. Thanks to their commitment and vocation, many people find the path to grow both academically and personally.
